The Fayette Chamber is hosting a Candidate Academy for individuals who are running or may be interested in running for local, state or federal elected office. The goal of the program is provide critical information to potential candidates to remove the barriers of running for office.
This program is a non-partisan, non-political resource open for all Fayette County citizens who may be interested in running for any elected office. There is no charge to attend. Lunch is provided.

| Feb 14 Industry Council |
TOPIC: For the entire year, Industry Council will focus on 6S Workplace Organization. 6S programs provide the framework for manufacturing and industrial operations to improve housekeeping, standardize processes, increase efficiencies and reduce accidents. 6S programs may fail by design and/or deployment, resulting in a lower return on the resource investment.
Each Industry Council meeting in 2018 will focus on one of the "S" methodologies - SORT, SET IN ORDER, SHINE, STANDARDIZE, SUSTAIN, SAFETY with discussion to help resolve your 6S challenges. We are pleased to partner with Larry Alford of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute for this series. Larry and his team will be on hand at each meeting to lead the group in understanding and fine-tuning these processes with attendees sharing best practices or challenges in each of these 6S areas.
SCHEDULE: Beginning in February, Industry Council will meet bi-monthly on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. The location will change from meeting to meeting so that we can showcase different industries and participate in tours at each meeting location.
We will send out meeting reminders in advance, but please go ahead and mark your calendar for the following dates:

Previously Tea & Talk, The Nonprofit Council is a targeted industry sector of the Chamber here to provide a forum of education for nonprofit business collaboration while strengthening and growing the nonprofit sector.
This council will provide learning opportunities to help nonprofits acquire resources and operate efficiently. This will include presentations on topics such as: grant writing, expectation for donation, how to increase engagement, and advocacy. This council is here to provide a networking opportunity to connect and become a referral source network for members among not only nonprofits, but to connect to for-profit members.

Speaker: Wes Wicker - Columns Fundraising
Be ready to learn everything from what you need before you write a grant application, how to build a Case for Support, to where to find appropriate funding!
Wes counts more than thirty years of experience in higher education and development. Wicker began his career in Admissions, and then in Alumni Affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University. He also worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia, and as Vice President of Advancement at Kennesaw State University. He also served as Vice President of Major Gifts for United Way of Metro Atlanta, and a similar position with United Way of Central Indiana (Indianapolis).
Wes has a BA in History from the University of Alabama, an M.Ed from Georgia Southwestern State University and an Ed.D from the University of Georgia. He served as the Senior Director and President of Theta Chi's National Fraternity Foundation. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Norwich Housing Corporation. Wicker is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed on an alumnus of Theta Chi. Wes and his wife, Kay, have two adult daughters, and in his free time he aspires to become a mediocre golfer.
