Grounds Maintenance Supervisor - Building & Grounds
This is a full-time position with benefits. This position supervises and participates in the maintenance of county grounds.
Major duties include but are not limited to:
1. Directs, assigns, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
2. Plans projects and estimates material and labor needs.
3. Coordinates activities with the county recreation department and with community and athletic associations.
4. Prioritizes work schedules.
5. Provides instruction and training in correct methods and procedures.
6. Operates light and heavy machinery including commercial mowers, backhoes, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, and others.
7. Supervises and participates in the application of herbicides and pesticides; maintains related records.
8. Schedules employee training.
9. Operates computers and job-related software.
10. Inspects the work of ground crews and contractors.
11. Determines proper fertilization requirements for sports fields and county grounds.
12. Enforces safety procedures.
13. Reviews and approves or disapproves new landscape plans.
14. Troubleshoots irrigation problems; recommends watering schedules.
15. Supervises and participates in the installation of landscaping.
16. Assists in the department hiring process.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Starting Salary - $52,954.36
